Tourism potential and Pakistan
Here we have a list of
countries by total tourism income and ratio of tourism income by total GDP. The ratio of tourism income to the total GDP gives a figure which economies are most dependent on tourism income.
*United States of America has the highest total tourism income with over 210 billion $ yearly. This huge figure however is only 1.1% of the country's total GDP
*Spain has the second largest tourism income in the World with almost 68 billion $ yearly, making up tourism 5.2% of the total economy.
*Another Mediterranean country, France, is the third on the list with over 60 billion yearly tourism income.
*It is no wonder that the popular holiday destination Maldives is the leader when it comes to share of tourism in the total GDP. 2.7 billion $ tourism income of Maldives makes up 60% of the country's total GDP.
In 2019, international tourism revenue amounted to 1.48 trillion U.S. dollars. According to the World Bank international tourism receipts are expenditures by international inbound visitors, including payments to national carriers for international transport
In 2019, contribution of travel and tourism to GDP (% of GDP) for Pakistan was 7.2 %.
2020 is a good year for the hotel and tourism industry in Pakistan. Successfully achieved several milestones. These milestones begin with the current government’s vision to develop and promote tourism as one of its main economic drivers, with the goal of building an industry that can develop for the rupee. By 2025, it will bring $ 1 trillion in revenue to the economy. Building on the successful tourism models of other countries (such as Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and the Philippines), the introduction of sustainable, responsible and environmental tourism phenomena that have successfully achieved sustainable growth in the industry
Pakistan has reappeared on the world map with its well-designed tourism policy to facilitate tourists from all over the world. Through these efforts, Pakistan has become a major travel destination in the world.
Pakistan can earn money from tourism alone, both local and international, by revamping the infrastructure and ensuring facilities for the tourists,” the prime minister said at a cheques distribution ceremony here under the Ehsaas Scholarship and Kamyab Jawan programmes.

Pakistan was ranked The Best Holiday Destination for 2020 and was also declared the third-highest potential adventure destination in the world for 2020.
We need to do some serious work for the development of tourism in Pakistan.
